The OKINAKO Project was developed in response to the increasing visibility and simultaneous misunderstanding of individuals who intentionally choose to remain childfree. In the Philippines, a country with deep-rooted religious and cultural expectations around marriage and parenthood, choosing not to have children remains widely stigmatized. As more people begin to challenge traditional life paths, there is a growing need to create inclusive platforms that validate and support alternative lifestyles like being Childfree.
It aims to promote awareness and understanding of the experiences of childfree individuals through personal narratives and stories of childfree individuals. It also aims to offer a supportive and informative space for individuals considering alternatives outside of traditional parenthood by shedding light on the diverse experiences and challenges surrounding individuals who are opting to be voluntarily childfree in the Philippines.
