About us
The name OKINAKO is a portmanteau derived from the Filipino phrase "Okay na ako," expressing self-assurance and contentment, which aligns with the project's message of empowerment and acceptance for childfree individuals.
The OKINAKO Project was developed in response to the increasing visibility and simultaneous misunderstanding of individuals who intentionally choose to remain childfree. In the Philippines, a country with deep-rooted religious and cultural expectations around marriage and parenthood, choosing not to have children remains widely stigmatized. As more people begin to challenge traditional life paths, there is a growing need to create inclusive platforms that validate and support alternative lifestyles like being Childfree.

Objectives
This Project seeks to:
- Educate Filipinos, particularly those unfamiliar with, misinformed about, or curious about the childfree lifestyle.
- Provide a supportive, inclusive platform through an informative website and an interactive graphic narrative.
- Raise awareness about the social stigma surrounding childfree individuals to foster empathy, acceptance, and open dialogue on alternative life paths.

Goals
This Project seeks to:
Promote awareness and understanding of the diverse reasons and realities behind the choice to be childfree, while challenging common misconceptions and social stigma.
It aims to foster a supportive and inclusive community where childfree individuals can share their experiences, connect with others, and find solidarity. By providing access to informative content, helpful directories, and mental and emotional support tools, OKINAKO serves as a valuable resource for those navigating a childfree life.
The project also encourages open and respectful conversations about family structures, personal identity, and life choices, with the hope of creating a more accepting and inclusive society.
At its core, OKINAKO empowers individuals to embrace their decisions with confidence, affirming that fulfillment and meaning can take many forms outside of traditional expectations.
